A place for local moms to share information and meet new friends

OK..I may not be popular for saying this, but I for one would LOVE to see a Target in Scotts Valley. Every week in the Press Banner I see the stories about those who do not want a target here and while I get all the concerns, I still want a Target here! Yes, the location may not be ideal for those who live in that area, but come on..it's Target! How many of us head over the hill or to Watsonville to the wonderful, happy place? Why not have those dollars be spent here? As for competition and the possibility of it putting some shops out of business, I don't really see it. There are SO MANY things available at Target that are not available here. I think we live in a community where we are happy to support our local shops, but would also like the possibility of a few more options. Just thinking of being able to run to target 5 minutes away when my husband gets home for a little "me" time, makes me giddy!

What are your thoughts?

For me it works either way...I would have loved if the Home Depot in Soquel would have been a Target. But if there is one in Scotts Valley it would be the same drive from Capitola or Watsonville. I think that I would still drive to Watsonville that way I would miss the fish hook traffic. But it would be nice to have another Target in the area ...

Oh my gosh, I am *so* for it! I swear, if we get a Target in Scotts Valley, I will be standing outside the doors on opening day crying big fat tears of joy. My husband will be crying tears of fear....for our bank account. Is it even possible to go to Target and spend less than $100? Whatever. GO TARGET!!!!

FYI: On April 16th at 4:00 pm, there is a public hearing at Scotts Valley City Council Chambers to hear the publics thoughts on Target.

I disagree, mostly for the aesthetics of it. It's just crass to have a big box store sitting at the entrance to our beautiful town. We're planning a beautiful boutique-ey town center, but a Target sitting at the front end of Mt. Hermon? Why not put it on Scotts Valley drive which is in desperate need of revenue and rejuvenation.
I treat Costco like a Target--I'm there 4 days a week dropping kids off at Gymnastics so I pop over and get a million rolls of toilet paper, snacks for the kids. I just don't get the allure of Target and why people want it so badly-but that's me!
