A place for local moms to share information and meet new friends

Would anyone be interested in starting an Adventure group?

So, I saw this cool camp for kids where all summer long they go to a cool place once a week, like Happy Hollow, the beach, the boardwalk, etc. I love the idea and would sign up, but my little guy is too little. So, I was wondering if anyone here would be into setting this ourselves? We could plan it for the same day/time every week during the summer and keep it casual. What do you think?

I was just thinking about "planning" out my summer i.e. set-up particular field-trips to go each week. I have 2 kiddos and they LOVE to get out & about. How old are your kids? Mine are 3 (in april) and 4.5 (5 in July). I'd love to set-up a calendar & schedule some fun trips...Oakland Zoo - Happy Hollow - Discovery Museum etc. Let me know! Even the park in Los Gatos that all the kids love!

I like that idea Lori..I need some kind of incentive to get out of my house this summer with my 3 kids! If I know other moms are going to be there, I am more likely to venture out.

Meredith, I have two boys. Dylan turns 5 in July and Brody is 1.5.

I feel the same. If I know others are going, it gives me the incentive to get out of the house and go.

Maybe we should all put down some choices of places we'd like to visit - then from there look @ the weeks in the summer & figure out when/where etc.

I know the places I was thinking of are:

1. Oakland Zoo *even though it's far...it's a GREAT Zoo! small enough to manage with 2 (or 3) & not get frustrated!
2. Happy Hollow
3. Boardwalk (easy one)
4. Discovery Museum (they are opening up a new one in Monterey soon! maybe in June!) or San Jose is good too.
5. Berry Picking up North (Olliaberry picking is good in June then they are closed)
6. Bonfante/Gilroy Gardens (has to be when it's NOT too hot! otherwise it's not much fun!!)

Those are just a few places/things I was planning to do. Most are not too expensive & easy to manage.

Try My Museum in Monterey, for kids up to age 10 or 12.

I ventured over the hill yesterday with a friend and our kids to "The Jungle". Not the most educational outing, but the kids were happy and I did not have to chase them around!
How about if we make Wednesdays the "outing day". Middle of the week, something to look forward to??
I can start a "group" on here with all the info. Like Robin said with enough people interested we could maybe get some group discounts at a few place.

I could do Wednesdays...except the 1st Wed. of the month...a work day over the hill for me.

So, let's do this! Let's make it a group and then we can vote on the best day for the majority. I love all of the suggestions, so far. I think most of our schools end in June, so maybe we can shoot for an end of June/beg of July start date and go through mid to end of Aug.

oh, I would like this. I kinda do this on Mondays...Jett does not go to preschool on Mondays so every Monday we go to Capitola Library bc it has a really cool playground. I dread summer just cuz our schedule is so loose. I would love to know that every Monday we go to the Library and on Wed we go to the Beach.. or Happy Hallow or wherever. i think it would be fun to meet up with friends. We would be up for it...of course time is always an issue but I am up for 11am-2pm.
